You Are Not Alone

To the Mother…

  • Who feels alone: You are not alone, there are many moms who feel the same way as you. Don’t be afraid to express how you feel.
  • Who feels overwhelmed: You are not alone, whether you are a stay-at-home-mom or a working mom, you are doing a lot for your family. It’s okay to take a break for yourself. Happy children needs a happy mom.
  • Who needs extra help: You are not alone, it’s not wrong to ask for extra help. We can’t do it all in one day, so it’s alright if you need a sitter for an hour or two.
  • Who needs a break: You are not alone. Go ahead and take the break, get a pedicure, go out with your friends, or even have a glass of wine alone. It’s okay, you deserve it.
  • Who needs sleep: You are not alone, take a rest and don’t feel guilty about it. Leave baby with daddy for a while, or actually sleep when they nap. You’ll feel much better when you wake up.
  • Who needs more words of encouragement: You are not alone, and I’m sorry we don’t hear it often enough. But, you are a GREAT mother, don’t sell yourself short, you’re doing a wonderful job.
  • Who wants to scream and cry: You are not alone. I understand you want to scream or cry not because you are angry, but because you are tired, overwhelmed, and wondering if you are enough. Yes, you are enough. What you are doing at home or at work is enough.
Being a mother is not the easiest role a person can have, but it is the most rewarding. Often times we question if what we’re doing wrong, and if what we’re doing is good enough or worth it. Whether it’s at home or at the office. The answer is: who knows? We can read countless of parenting books to try figure out how to be the “perfect” parent, when all we really need to be is THE parent for our children. What I’ve learned most from being a mother is, there are really no guidelines to follow on being a “perfect”mom, and what we should really follow is our heart. What we feel is right, and what we feel is best to do for ourselves and our family. During tough times of parenting, we often feel lonely, as if no one else is going through what we’re going through. I’ve met so many amazing moms who have made me realize that I am not alone. Though there are plenty of mothers out there, don’t be intimidated to reach out and make a connection. You’ll never, she may be the one who can understand what you’re going through. Not every child is the same, as well as, not every mom. I always thought I was alone in the ways I raise my son, or the choices I make. When I have doubts about whether I am raising him “the right way”, I used to be embarrassed to reach out and ask other mothers if they also go through the same because of the fear of being judged. But, that’s how you’ll learn who is a genuine friend.
Long story short, motherhood is beautiful and a blessing, but it’s also the scariest and craziest roller coaster ride. I’m pretty sure many of you moms can agree to this, therefore you can see that you are not alone in this ride.

    Oh how true all of this is! I've been experiencing the “mom who wants/needs to scream and cry” lately. Being 8 months pregnant with a toddler, I've felt extremely tired and overwhelmed lately….and it sometimes gets misconstrued as simply being angry. It's hard sometimes to explain to my husband the reasons behind my feelings or mini meltdowns, but it always helps to talk to fellow moms who are going through or have gone through similar feelings/moments. Thanks for sharing…great post!
